About Our Company
We are a small company that is doing our part to help local companies stay financially strong and possibly even help bring back outsourced Midwestern jobs.
We are able to perform in-house or on-site mechanical (shop) disassembly and photography to CAD (computer-aided design) manipulation of 2D/3D models. The end result is color or grayscale images and vector graphics (2 color line-art) for parts/assembly explodes for various publication support needs. We have years of experience writing parts manuals, service manuals, operator manuals, instruction sheets, and technical manuals.
About Brad
I started my continuing education in Wisconsin with an Associate of Science Degree from UW-Manitowoc Center. I then graduated with a Bachelor of Arts Degree with a major in Writing from Lakeland College.
I started out for 4 years writing as a Parts Catalog Writer for Trenton Technical Studio, Inc. in West Bend, Wisconsin. Working for numerous local manufacturers‚ varying from lawn tractors to mining companies‚ I reviewed prints‚ created parts lists‚ proofed parts catalogs‚ created art, and added supporting parts lists. Continuing on at Trenton Technical Studio, I worked on technical manuals for over a year, and then moved into writing Operator Manuals and Installation Instructions. I have a total of over 16 years of technical writing and supervisory experience. I enjoy quoting on jobs, analyzing information, and carefully proofing work to make sure you are provided the best, most accurate support publication for your product.
Even though I have worked on many types of technical publications over my career, my area of expertise is extracting data, procedures, steps, images, etc. from prints, drawings, photographs, CAD files, engineering data, and meetings, and compiling/assembling installation instructions, parts catalogs, operator manuals, service manuals, among many other types of a company's internal and external support publications. I have become the most proficient in creating these documents in several popular programs:
- Arbortext Editor (PTC)
- Adobe FrameMaker
- Adobe InDesign
- Microsoft Word
I have also become efficient at using these CAD software packages:
- PTC Creo (formerly Pro/ENGINEERING)
- SolidWorks and SolidWorks Composer
- VisMockup (Siemens Corporation)
- Immersive Design (IPA)
I believe that quality support publications are underappreciated and undervalued at most companies. My goal is to make sure people develop an understanding, respect, and appreciation for quality support documentation; that anything a company produces should have the best, most accurate support documents that can be provided with the product. Warranty issues, service and technical calls, and liability claims severely hurt the bottom line for any manufacturer, and most of those costs can be significantly reduced by providing the most accurate information that can be given to the person assembling, operating, or repairing the product.
Quality technical support documents are usually at the bottom of everyone’s radar when producing a product, when it should actually be near the top. Let me work as your teammate to help lower those unnecessary additional liability costs and produce the top notch support materials you need to keep your production line humming along.
